Job Description Technical Writer/Specialist
Iomega Corporation, an EMC company, is seeking a Technical Writer/Specialist. This position is located at Iomega’s Roy, Utah Office.
This is a great opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join a successful and growing business. Reporting to the Director of Customer Satisfaction, the key responsibility of the Technical Writer is to create end user documentation and web support articles for Iomega’s family of network products. In addition, develop and deliver training, help with customer support escalations, and complete projects assigned by manager.
Essential Functions:
- Create HTML- and print-based end user documentation for Iomega’s family of network products
- Develop on-line content for the Iomega Support website
- Support phone agents by creating agent documentation and training
- Work closely with localization vendor to create multi-language documentation
- Website calibration based on support call data
- Assist with customer support escalations
- Research evolving features and technologies
Minimum Requirements:
- Two year degree in Technical Writing or related field
- 1+ years documentation experience
- Superior understanding of computers, networks, and data storage such as Client Operating Systems, routers, and RAID arrays
- Experience coding HTML
- Working Knowledge of Adobe InDesign, QuarkXPress, or Adobe FrameMaker
- Understanding of printing processes and typesetting
- Strong deductive logic & analytical skills
- Professional written & oral English communication skills
- Excellent organization and time-management skills
- High level of personal initiative and professionalism
Preferred:
- BS degree in Technical Writing or related field
- 2+ years documentation experience
- Working knowledge of JavaScript or Perl
- Global/multi-language documentation experience
- Previous work experience in the computer industry
- Usability work experience
- Project management experience with a solid understanding and application of project management principles
