Chapter Council and Committees

The following is general information about leadership positions within the chapter. For more detail about a particular position, contact a chapter officer, or access the STC website; along the top menu bar under STC Members choose Administrative Docs (requires member login), then choose Chapter Resources and locate the STC Chapter Handbook.

The chapter leadership council consists of an executive board and various committee managers. The council meets monthly, via conference call, for about an hour. Each committee has committee members who assist the committee managers, but who do not attend the monthly council meeting.

Executive Board

Position Description
President Oversees all chapter activities, helps establish vision and direction, schedules and moderates council meetings.
Immediate Past President Provides transitional guidance to new council members; participates as an active member of the council.
Vice-president Helps president as necessary.
Secretary Prepares council meeting agendas, records meeting minutes, and prepares and submits year-end reports.
Treasurer/Secretary Oversees chapter finances and submits year-end finance report.

Committees

Committee Description
Nominating Organizes annual chapter elections, locates and reviews candidates, validates and reports election results.
Competitions Oversees annual chapter publications and art competitions, including call for entries, judging, and awards.
Membership Keeps track of members/listserv, welcomes new members, helps council be in touch with and meet the needs of members, helps get information to members.
Programs Plans and coordinates chapter development meetings.
Website Oversees website function, updates content and design as necessary.
Education Serves as a liaison between professional and student chapters.
Employment Helps make employment information available to chapter members, and helps educate current and potential employers on the benefits of STC membership.
Newsletter Oversees newsletter publication.
Public Relations Works to generate awareness of STC, and create and/or strengthen partnerships with the community. May help publicize meetings.

Northern regional rep, southern Idaho Helps council be in touch with and meet the needs of members in the specified region, may hold chapter sponsored meetings in the area.
Southern regional rep, southern Utah Helps council be in touch with and meet the needs of members in the specified region, may hold chapter sponsored meetings in the area.
